Extreme Survival: Belarus – 17 April 2023

Martin Pailthorpe is a traveller with specialist skills. He is a self-shooting and editing TV producer and director of over twenty five years experience. He talked to us pre-pandemic on the ‘Real Heroes of Telemark’. His specialism has been making programmes in remote and extremely challenging environments.

In this lecture he describes how Jewish partisans used their environmental skills to survive in life-and-death situations during World War II. Up to twelve hundred Jewish partisans lived in the forest around the Belarus city of Novogrudak for three years during the Nazi Occupation.
