Liverpool – trip postponed from March
Mersey Tunnel and Western Approaches – Saturday July 20th 2019

Saturday 23 March 2019 (now Saturday 20 July)
We have arranged visits to a pair of adjacent venues in Liverpool on Saturday 23 March 2019. The day will begin with a tour of the working parts of the Mersey Tunnel starting at 0945 and lasting about two hours (www.merseytravel.gov.uk/tunnels/Pages/Tunnel-Tours.aspx). There will then be time for you to make your own arrangements for lunch before we visit the nearby Western Approaches Museum (http://www.liverpoolwarmuseum.co.uk/) located behind Liverpool Town Hall. A guided tour of the Museum has been arranged starting at 1400 and lasting about 90 minutes.
Members are asked to make their own way to and from James Street station in Liverpool by Merseyrail (a convenient train leaves Chester at 0845 or Hooton at 0859 arriving James Street 0924).
We shall meet at 0945 at the George’s Dock Building (see below) three minutes walk from the station. There will be a safety briefing before the tour begins from there at 1000.

nb Mersey Tunnels advise that the visit to the tunnel is not suitable for anybody with breathing or walking difficulties.
